Academics: Visual & Performing Arts
The Logos Arts Department exists to accomplish the mission and to collaborate with the vision of Logos Academy. In order to accomplish this we strive to do the following:
- Help students understand they have been created in the image of God and reflect his artistic creativity.
- Teach skills which will be tools for life long artistic communication.
- Foster an atmosphere where the beauty of our creative gifts and the gospel of Jesus Christ are shared artistically among the school community and the greater York community.
- Enhance cultural awareness by introducing a wide range of cultural art and training in observation, analysis, communication and creative response.
MUSIC
What We Study
Elementary

READING – Understanding written notation and musical structure.
LISTENING – Recognition of musical characteristics and instruments.
SHARING – Excellence in singing and playing instruments to share with the community.
Upper School

THEORY – Understanding written notation and musical analysis.
HISTORY – In-depth study of composers, masterworks, time periods, and cultures.
PERFORMANCE – Continued development of excellent techniques in singing and playing instruments to share with the community.
VISUAL ARTS
What We Study
Elementary

SKILLS – Creating art through cutting, pasting, painting, etc.
OBSERVATION – Identifying basic characteristics of art, such as primary and secondary colors, and two and three dimensional objects.
SHARING – Displaying artwork for others to see and appreciate.
Upper School

TECHNIQUE – Learning proven methods in mechanics, observation, and use of materials in art creation
HISTORY – In-depth study of master artists, masterworks, time periods, and cultures.
DISPLAY – Presenting and communicating art through community events and competitions.
