“As the Father sent me, I am sending you.” – John 20:21
Opportunities to serve in our community are abundant. I am frequently asked, “Is there an easy way for a busy person like me to plug in and volunteer, even on an irregular basis?” The simple answer is yes. At Logos Academy, we have a variety of opportunities to volunteer and a number of ways your specific gifts can be utilized. One significant area of volunteer need is for READERS & GREETERS.
Readers are volunteers who read with elementary age students. The value of reading to, and reading with, a student cannot be understated. Many children in our world today do not have the privilege of an adult who reads with them. Students that are read to on a regular basis develop improved vocabulary and language skills, heightened concentration levels, and expanded imaginations as their brains are exercised. Volunteer readers can give small portions of their time in very flexible ways that suit a busy schedule.
Greeters are volunteers who welcome students to Logos Academy from 7:40-8:05 am. Regardless of what home circumstances our students have come from in the morning, we want this 25 minute block of time to be used to greet students with a warm smile, a high five, and the sense that they are deeply loved and respected. Volunteer greeters have great flexibility in the frequency at which they serve.
