It’s Easy to be a Logos Champion (#LogosChampion)

Our vibrant learning community is robust with stories about lives being changed through connections at Logos Academy. We are an urban, Kingdom school grounded in the love of Christ, educating for excellence, offering opportunity, and cultivating hope in our community.

To our students, we offer an excellent education through a classical model which encompasses Greek, Latin, literature, humanities, philosophy, and rhetoric.

To our families, we offer opportunity to break cycles and connect with others in an environment grounded in the love of Christ. Our culturally diverse community is celebrated and seeds of understanding are planted.

To our community, we bring hope. Hope is brought to Logos in many ways: A caring friend, a donor who provides much-needed scholarships or school supplies, a community mentor that engages a student in an opportunity to expand his or her learning, a teacher who takes time to build a relationship with a student who is struggling, a staff member who listens to the struggles of a parent and connects them with resources. These are our Logos Champions.

Are you already a Logos Champion? We thank you for your love and support. You are steadfast and diligent in your commitment to Logos’ mission.

We need Logos Champions to continue to bring hope to our vibrant learning community! Join us. It’s easy!

Back-to-school time has arrived! Students are putting on their new uniforms and zipping up their backpacks. It’s a time of new beginnings and high hopes. Logos Academy is a special place. Dreams are planted, futures are built, and children are being prepared to be all that God has created them to be. I’d like to ask you to invest in that as this school year begins.

Grounded in the love of Christ, we embrace a whole-child approach, investing in the academic, spiritual, and cultural flourishing of our students. We are committed to strong parent partnerships, small class sizes, and are excited to see our students engaging in the good things happening in our city. This vibrant mix creates a path of opportunity like no other educational choice in York. However, every child faces challenges, both in school and life. To make it possible for our diverse group of students to be in our classrooms, they need champions. They need champions to encourage them, cheer them on, and help provide them scholarships.

  • Would you consider being a Logos Champion and supporting a student for a day with your gift of $45?
  • Would you consider being a champion for a week with a gift of $225 to cover a student’s education at Logos?
  • What if every locker at Logos became a place of daily encouragement, where students are reminded that champions are rooting for them and supporting them? Would you consider giving $1,000 to benefit a student’s scholarship and provide a word of encouragement on a student’s locker?

Founders Event: Important Head of School Update

traci and connieWhat a joy it will be to honor Traci Foster and Connie Rae on April 21st at our Founders’ Event, for their faith and vision that gave birth to Logos Academy. We want to give you an important update which has an impact on our plans for this event.

Logos Academy is building momentum. In the 2014-15 fiscal year, we generated $1.5M in tax credit contributions, which allowed us to provide generous scholarships to families. Paying on average as little as $1400, families sent their children to Logos Academy, where their standardized test scores are up to four times higher than neighborhood schools, and the cost to educate is 71% of the cost of our public system. Our intent was to launch a Legacy Society and endowment effort as a first step in securing the future viability of our mission.

However, the 270-day-old PA State budget impasse necessitates a detour. Legislative inaction has wreaked havoc on our budget through lost and delayed tax credits. Scholarships were granted, with the expectation that business contributions would come through. Governmental squabbling has created a $800,000 gap in our current budget.

The good news is that time and again, God has provided generous people who have stepped into the gap for students who society is content to allow to fail. Our community of support is making it clear that this resolve has not waned.

The Founders’ Event is a critical moment for Logos Academy, a moment to celebrate and a moment where our students need you to Step Into the Gap once again. We hope to see you there. RSVP

Rev. Aaron J. Anderson, CEO/Head of School

Celebrating our Founders

Connie Rae and Traci Foster, Logos Academy Founders

In 1998, the mighty hand of God moved in the hearts of two local women, Traci Foster and Connie Rae, to make a difference in the educational crisis plaguing York City. Fueled by faith in Christ, these women poured there passion into the lives of 14 young students that first year. Over the next decade, the journey led them to meet in three local churches and introduce Logos Academy to community partners who would provide much needed financial assistance.

Today, Logos serves more than 250 students on its own campus constructed in 2010 at 250 West King Street. Students and families are welcomed regardless of faith or financial capacity. Last year we provided more than 1.8 million in scholarship to make our vibrant learning community accessible to everyone.

On April 21, at 6pm we are excited to hold our Founders Event where we will celebrate the legacy of Traci and Connie and what God has done through their work. It will be a special evening for all who care about Logos and an important one too as we are planning on discussing important opportunities to support Logos.

We would love to have you present with us for this important and special moment.
