News from Logos Catering

FullSizeRenderExciting changes have happened within Logos Catering (formerly West King Catering). Under the direction of Catering Manager Sharmini Goins, Logos Catering will continue to build our “menus with a mission” to serve the York community.

Sharmini was born and raised in Malaysia with a multi-ethnic background of Arab, Indian, and Malay. She gained a love for cultural culinary fusion while travelling to various parts of the world, including Monaco, London, and Tokyo. Mentored by her mother until her mother’s passing, Sharmini became self taught in the art of culinary and cake design.

Settling in the United States when her son, now 16, was just a baby, Sharmini worked in corporate business in Baltimore for many years. In 2010, through a deep calling and a friend’s encouragement, Sharmini moved to York, then enrolled her children at Logos Academy.

Shortly after moving to York, she started “Sharmini’s Kitchen,” a culinary small business specializing in traditional Malaysian and Asian fusion fare, as well as edible cake design. In 2013, Sharmini’s Kitchen began operating in the historic Central Market. In 2016, operations changed into personal chef services, specialty food products, and specialty catering.

Sharmini quickly became invested and involved in Logos’ vibrant learning community as a mom, previous Board member, and now, staff. She is currently heavily involved in York City food events, including Taste of York City, Susquehanna Style, Restaurant Week, and WellSpan Heart Healthy program. Sharmini has been featured on Fox 43, Susquehanna Style Magazine, The Star, York Daily Record and was a nominee for a 2015 Downtown First Award.

A self proclaimed “foodie,” Sharmini uses her culinary creations to celebrate her many different cultural exposures and the cultures she has encountered in York and at Logos Academy. “I am thrilled to bring my experience and personal expertise to Logos Catering to help further expand an exciting, diverse, fun, educational, community-oriented environment in the areas of food, flavors, catering, and event planning. Logos Catering is a place where talents are recognized, skills are mastered, and work opportunities are made within and for our diverse community.”

Sharmini is, above all, a devoted ‘mummy’ to Reuel, who is a Sophomore, and Tzipporah, who is in 7th grade, both at Logos Academy. She also serves as a mentor for York City High School.
